Materials Management Operative

The procurement function at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is very well respected at Board level and throughout the organisation and is widely regarded as a well led and high performing team always looking for new and innovative ways of improving the service provided. The Logistics function is a key part of this team.

Despite the challenging NHS financial climate, the support of the Board is further evidenced by the approval of a re-structure of the procurement team to support the next phase of our team’s development.

This re-structure has created an exciting opportunity for 1 available post in the role of Materials Management Operative, to support the Supply Chain Manager to provide a day-to-day materials management operational service to wards and departments. The role will support clinical teams in the timely provision of clinical and non-clinical supplies for the treatment of patient thereby supporting patient safety and wellbeing.

We are looking for an individual who is keen to learn about Materials Management and Procurement in the healthcare sector; someone who is able to methodically deal with information and data and translate that into fantastic customer service. You will need to be strong willed, numerate and a great communicator with a close eye for detail.

This is a genuine opportunity for the right person to forge a career in materials management and procurement and make a significant contribution to the care of patients and provide crucial support to clinical staff. The post holder will be interchangeable with the other Materials Management Operatives and there will be a requirement for these posts to cover each other during times of annual leave / sickness or during periods of training.

The post holder will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels.

You will have a good standard of general educational inc. maths and English and demonstrable knowledge of Procurement, Customer Care and Supply Chain Management

From 1st April 2016, a charge of £39 (Standard) or £60 (Enhanced) will be made by the successful candidate which will be deducted from the first 3 months’ salary. In addition to this, you will also be required to re-pay any future costs that may arise in relation to DBS fees.

NB. Current employees of Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust who have had a satisfactory DBS check, carried out by this Trust during the last 3 years, will not be required to undertake a new one. Where staff have not had a check (classification appropriate to the post offered) within the last 3 years, they will be required to undertake and pay for this, as per the arrangements above.
