Are you passionate about education? Do you already support Nursing, Midwifery or Allied Health Professional Students on placement? If so. we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our practice education team as an Assistant Practice Placement Facilitator (PPF) within South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust (STSFT). You will help us to support the expansion of student placement capacity, whilst ensuring students are provided with high-quality placements and learning opportunities across our hospital and community environments. Our PPF team are key roles within the Corporate Nursing and Quality Directorate and are there to coach, guide and support student Nurses, Midwives and Allied Healthcare Professionals whilst on placement in STSFT.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Assistant Practice Placement Facilitator (PPF) within the NMAHP Education Team (Nursing, Midwifery & Allied Health Professions) is to support the team PPFs in ensuring the quality of practice learning and clinical learning environments and continuously improve the learners' experience.

You will contribute to the quality assurance of a range of programmes of education by participation in educational audit and actively-seeking feedback from students, supervisors/assessors, preceptors and service users in clinical practice.

You will be a keen advocate of continuous quality improvement and support the Team to both improve learners' experiences in the clinical practice areas and increase our student capacity.

Qualifications

Essential

  • First-level registered professional (Nurse, Midwife or AHP).
  • Mentorship qualification (PA/PS) or educator (AHP).
  • Degree in health-related subject, or equivalent level study/experience.

Desirable

  • Leadership qualification.
  • Sign-off / Mentor status.

Physical skills

Essential

  • Able to meet the travel requirements of the role.
  • IT skills to ensure databases and records are kept up-to-date.
  • Working at PC/desk for extended periods of concentration.
  • Travelling to areas to provide support or perform an audit.
  • Ability to manage own workload/diary.

Desirable

  • Car driver.

  • Experienced in learner support and assessment.

  • Experience in supporting newly-registered practitioners, international nurses and new HCA/HCSWs in clinical practice.
  • Experience in reviewing Preceptorship and/or Care Certificate portfolios.
